In this article we will discuss the basics of Park Sites, and begin to familiarize you with the basics of accessing a specific Park Site in order to view a mobile home or RV park's Park Information.

Overview

Park Sites is a map driven graphical way to view, manage, and track mobile home parks and RV parks throughout the United States. It replaces spreadsheets by displaying colored map pins on a Google Map.

Each map pin (referred to as a Park Site) represents a single mobile home or RV park, while the various colors of each Park Site represents the specific status of the park. Black map pins indicate that there is no information about the park, green pins indicate that there is data but no users have claimed the park using the My Parks module, blue indicates that the park has been claimed by a member in the My Parks module, and purple indicates that you have claimed the park in the My Parks module.

By clicking on a Park Site, users can view the park's basic information in a slider that opens from the right side of the page. Within the slider, you have additional options to either view or edit the details of that specific Park Site. You can also choose to mark the site for later reference, which changes the map pin from its default color to yellow. By tracking mobile home parks and RV parks in this manner, we give our users a much more efficient, and multi-dimensional, method of managing and tracking mobile home park or RV park information. These are aspects traditional spreadsheets simply can't accomplish.

Definitions

  1. Park Site - A layer of data specific to the park's location which is managed exclusively by our system administrators, and contains information about a mobile home or RV park's city, county, state, and zip code.
  2. Park Information - A layer of data that is specific to the park and managed by our users. Examples of information contained in this layer are a park's street address, phone number, website, Flood Plain status, Utilities & Streets information, number of mobile home or RV lots, amenities, and park contacts.
  3. Claimed - A Park Site status that is used to indicate if a park has a claimholder in the My Parks module. Each claimed park will have a blue map pin if another member has claimed the park, or it will be purple if you have claimed the park.
  4. Unclaimed - A Park Site status that is used to indicate that there is no claimholder for a specific park. Each unclaimed park will have a green map pin.
  5. No Park Data - A Park Site status that is used to indicate that a Park Site has no Park Information. Each No Park Data park will have a black map pin until additional Park Information is provided.
  6. Marked - A Park Site status that is used when a user chooses to mark a Park Site for a reference. Each Marked Park Site will be represented by a yellow map pin while the Park Site is Marked.

Instructions

To access Park Sites go to your Dashboard and click Park Sites from the left menu, after you have successfully logged into your MHParks.com account.

Park Sites Main Page

Within the main page of Park Sites you will be displayed a Map Legend and a Google Map with various colored map pins. The Map Legend helps to remind users of the pin colors used to indicate the status of each Park Sites throughout the United States. Each map pin represents a single mobile home park or RV park.

Users can zoom in closer to a location on the map, or zoom out when they wish to view more of the city, state or country. As you zoom out, you will see individual pins begin to cluster into numbers. The clustering is to help save space in locations that Park Sites are more dense.

Search Location field, located just above the top right of the map, has also been included to help users find Park Sites that may be in a specific area of the country. A filter option is also available to filter the pins being displayed on the map. You can choose to filter by Park Type, States, or Legend Types. The status of the filter will be indicated by the label to the left of the filter button.

Once you locate the Park Site that you wish to find more information about, simply click the map pin and a slider will open on the right side of the page.

Park Sites Slider Elements

Park Site Badges - For quick reference to the user, whenever a Park Site has been claimed by a member from within the My Parks module, or is being actively advertised in a Parks for Sale Ad, from within the Advertise module, it will be indicated by the Claimed and For Sale badges which display at the top of the slider as shown in the image below.

The slider will also contain the following buttons:
  1. View Park Details - Clicking the View Park Details button opens a new browser tab that contains all the available details about that Park Site. This information includes various information such as Street Address, Park Phone, Utilities & Street details, lot details, and Park Contacts.
  2. Edit Park Details - When clicked, the Edit Park Details button opens a new browser tab that gives the user the ability to edit all the Park Information that is displayed in the View Park Details page.
  3. Mark This Park - Clicking this button changes the map pin from its original color to yellow. This helps to track which parks you may have reviewed or even physically contacted. You may choose to mark as many parks as you wish. You can also remove the yellow color from your marked pins by clicking the Clear All Marked button on the Park Sites main page or clicking the Unmark This Park button on the slider.
  4. View State Website - Clicking this button opens a new browser tab that displays the state website where the Park Site is located, and is useful to look up state regulations or information that is specific to the parks state.
  5. View County Website - Clicking this button opens a new browser tab that displays the county website where the Park Site resides. This helps users to investigate any county related information such as County Assessor's Property Tax Records or GIS websites when the county makes the information publicly available.
  6. Google Maps - Clicking the Google Maps button opens a new browser tab that displays the Park Site in Google Maps. This allows our members to have better access to tools that are specific to Google Maps when needed.
Note - When a member, other than you has claimed a specific park, the Edit Park Details button will become disabled to prohibit other members from changing the Park Information
Note - While most counties in the United States do provide a website to the public, there are rare occasions that either the Park Site is located in a region of the country that does not have a county such as Alaska, or the county does not provide a public website. In those cases the View County Website button is disabled.
